Welcome back to school!  We are busy working, learning and getting to know each other in second grade.  The students are doing a wonderful job!  We have already worked in the computer lab and visited the media center. 

We will be going to the computer lab every Wednesday and Friday.  This week we will be starting Fastt Math.  The goal for second grade is addition facts from 0 to 9.  You will be getting updates throughout the year to let you know how your child is doing.

Each Thursday we will be going to the Media Center.  Mrs. Dwight is our media specialist and will be teaching lessons during some of our visits.  Your child should be bringing home two books each week, starting this week.

I have listened to the students read and have recorded a fluency score for each of them.  In addition, each child has taken a Star Reader test to determine their comprehension level.  This week we are reading from our reading book.  The story is the Mixed Up Chameleon.  The vocabulary words came home on Monday.  Please return the half sheet, signed when your child knows the words.  Thanks for your help on this.

The first spelling test will be this Thursday.  The words came home on Friday.  Please help your child prepare for this test.
